Sundance Car Wash is a family-owned business with five locations across Lancaster County. They offer flexibility for every kind of driver with automatic washes and self-serve bays, all open 24/7.
The Challenge
With millions of drivers in Lancaster County, demand for car washes wasn’t the issue—competition was. Sundance is up against dozens of local and national brands, many with bigger budgets and stronger name recognition. So how do we get a local, family-owned business to stand out in a saturated market?
Along with brand awareness, Sundance wanted to grow their app and increase visitors to their recently-renovated Lincoln Highway location.
Our Strategy
After analyzing competitors, we knew the best way for Sundance to succeed was to offer discounts. We kicked off our efforts with a direct mail campaign. We created a custom mailer that was delivered to over 3,000 homes in the area. At the same time, we began advertising on Instagram and Facebook.
We started by promoting a month of unlimited free washes at their Lincoln Highway location. From there, we offered a first wash free promotion and a $5 off promotion. Along with these promos, we ran a variety of awareness and weather-focused campaigns to meet their goals. Each campaign had a dedicated landing page, strategically guiding people to download the app or get directions to a Sundance location.
The Results
In just four months, active app users grew by 1,760 and there were 2,364 redeemed wash deals. In total, visitors across all locations grew by 135% since our ads began. The average price of a wash is $15, so estimated revenue increased by $110,340.
The printed mailer was received by thousands of homes and brought in 133 new users to the site, generating brand awareness for the Lincoln Highway location. It also resulted in 116 clicks to download their app.
