In our 25 years in business, our taglines and messaging have changed — but our core values haven’t budged. Passion, curiosity, and selflessness are three pillars that we look to in every decision we make, and we strive to instill these tenets not only in our employees, but in our clients as well.
Passion comes in many forms. It’s creating something meaningful — not just checking an item off your list. It’s offering to research a new technology, or sharing knowledge from a previous job to help your team. It’s not going home until the job is done.
We emphasize passion in everything we do, and we work to match the passion we see in many of our clients. We strive to be as passionate as they are internally about what they do and who they serve.
Curiosity is at the heart of everything we do. We question everything, assume nothing, and welcome being “wrong” if it means seeing things from a new angle. We love surveys, interviews, and speaking directly with our clients and customers to understand their needs.
Staying curious means continuing education, trying new things, teaching one another daily, and being open-minded — and it’s one of the biggest assets we bring our clients.
Many people imagine selflessness only as donating time or money. But being selfless is also knowing when to take a step back so someone else on your team can shine. It’s changing your process to make life easier for a coworker or a client. It’s putting someone else first, even when it isn’t easy.
Selflessness can easily be forgotten in the interest of “getting ahead.” But that makes it all the more important to focus on, both internally and with our clients.
On January 1, 1997, Tower Data Systems got its start and began offering traditional advertising and marketing services, website design, information technology, and web development.
The name Tower came from a moment of unexpected inspiration. During early conversations about starting the agency, the founders walked past the two famous towers of Reading, PA: the Pagoda and the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower.
While not as grand as the flashy Pagoda, they were struck by the understated form and selfless purpose of the fire tower. The moment stuck in their brains, and soon after, Tower was born.
As our marketing services expanded, we no longer felt that Tower Data Systems encompassed everything we offered. We decided to keep our namesake inspiration, but lose “data systems” in favor of the new name, Tower Communications.
Tower has never been afraid of change. We proved that in 2006 when we shifted our name yet again from Tower Communications to Tower Marketing. Refusing to let our name limit our offerings, we expanded with a full-service suite of proprietary programs. Maestro, Shopkeeper, Newscaster, Briefcase were all born to supplement a digital world before WordPress.
In 2010, we rolled out an all new Tower Marketing brand with our “Smart. Creative.” campaign. Our emphasis on both the left brain and right brain has stuck with us to this very day.
By 2014, we had been designing and developing websites for 17 years. But we felt something was missing. The growth of the industry meant that our approach was no longer holistic. Pieces of the puzzle were missing.
We decided to grow our internet marketing approach to include a full package of SEO, content, social media, and email solutions. By staying curious about industry trends, we were able to thoughtfully grow what has become a keystone of our business.
2019 was a huge year of change at Tower. We welcomed an updated brand, elevated messaging, and our biggest project yet — renovating our office! The renovation perfectly balances our high-tech workspaces with the historic nature of the 1867 building we call home. We launched our new space in October with over 100 of our friends and colleagues, and can’t wait to see the work it inspires.
