James :: Rocket Mortgage, Mountain Dew Zero, and Little Caesars (0:50 – 12:15)
Everyone (other than the host) seemed to enjoy Jason Momoa removing his fake muscles and hair. The Mountain Dew Zero spoof on The Shining was also a big winner. We enjoyed the Little Caesars ad (thanks to Rainn Wilson), but we wanted more Dwight to come through. James also liked Walmart Pickup and Alexa. His misses were State Farm, Snickers, and Coke Energy, which we could all agree on. Clearly fixing the world will not involve a Snickers bar (or a giant hole).
Alyssa :: Turbo Tax, Olay, and Doritos (12:16 – 28:40)
Alyssa loved the Turbo Tax “All People Are Tax People” ad and was laughing just talking about it. She also liked the P&G / Olay ad and its support of a worthy nonprofit, Girls Who Code. Her honorable mentions were Doritos (how can you go wrong with Lil Nas X and Sam Elliott?), Bud Light Seltzer (Post Malone truly is a rockstar), and Jeep (because everyone loves an adorable groundhog). Her misses? Avocados from Mexico and Planters. Baby Mr. Peanut was cute (very Baby Yoda-esque), but he didn’t save a truly odd series of commercials.
Dustyn :: Hyundai, Porsche, and Hummer (28:41 – 33:45)
Dustyn loves cars (who knew?), so obviously he chose three car-related commercials. Everyone enjoyed the Hyundai “Smaht Pahk” commercial, but felt “smaht park” could be problematic if you’re parked so close to someone that they can’t open their doors. He also enjoyed the Porsche Taycan ad, which took place in the Porsche Museum in Germany. We were on the fence about the Hummer EV ad, but that’s probably because Hummer and eco-friendly don’t really go hand-in-hand. LeBron (and Bronny) were a nice touch, though.
