F&M Center for Sustained Engagement with Lancaster
Website Design
An information-forward website demonstrating community-engaged research and partnerships in Lancaster.
The Center for Sustained Engagement with Lancaster (CSEwL) is funded by a grant from the Endeavor Foundation and focused on being an activator of research collaboration at F&M with diverse, and engaged, populations in Lancaster, PA. The Center’s core pillars of impact include poverty and social inequality, environmental sustainability, and social practice
and community-based art.
The Challenge
An in-person event in June 2023 warranted a website that would fulfill a key requirement of the Endeavor Foundation’s grant. The event would invite engaged community members and academics of F&M together to talk through the local issues, research projects, and active programs supported by CSEwL. The website would also need to continue to highlight the work of The Center and serve as a location to share its outcomes for the foreseeable future.
Our Strategy
Our work began with multiple interview sessions among the faculty and staff at The Center. Grasping a better understanding of their program work and local partners helped to inform the content on the website. When approaching the website design, we highlighted the three pillars of focus from the program and project result stories. Our development team then took the site a step further to create a flexible admin that would allow The Center’s staff to create events, add projects, and update resources post-launch.
The Results
The website set the design standards for the event program and project booklet that was distributed to attendees in June 2023. The website allows The Center to continue connecting with new partners and share the success stories of the projects in the Lancaster community.
