We are kicking off 2017 with our first Tower After Hours podcast of the year! In this episode, join Kelly, Mike Matus, Kimber, and Alyssa as they discuss their predictions for web design and content trends of 2017 and why Amazon Prime media rocks.
Ikea is Making Us Giggle with Their New Campaign: 0:48 – 8:38
Who loves Ikea? EVERYONE! Alyssa brings to our attention that Ikea has recently renamed their products after top Google search queries in Sweden that have to do with relationship problems. Think, “My friend only talks about himself” and “He won’t text back.” This is a part of their Retail Therapy campaign (which has earned total reached media of around 160 million), and we think they are winning the SEO ranking game.
Design Trends of 2017: 9:20 – 15:50
Mike Matus, Tower’s CEO and Creative Director, gives us some insight into web design trends that are working and those that are not working, like picking the color 25500, which is that neon blue you might have noticed on a lot of websites lately. Many websites are trying to follow the hottest trends but end up blending all together. Mike also notes that websites are starting to design with no navigation and a linear approach to control how the users use the website. Also, we might see the return of sound on websites. Good idea? Bad idea?
Content Predictions for 2017: 16:00 – 29:30
Kimber tells us which content predictions for the next year she agrees and disagrees with and her reasoning. What trends do you agree or disagree with from of her list?
Amazon Prime is Giving Us All the Feels: 29:44 – 33:00
Amazon Prime reminds us why they rock with their holiday season commercials, which we love. Also, Amazon Prime is just plain cool with the new technology on their horizon.
Kelly’s Advice for B2B: 33:10 – 42:12
Kelly gives us a few takeaways to end this episode. She suggests that B2B companies shouldn’t be turned off by content blogging on their website. Just embrace it and you can do it! Also, Kelly wants to know what’s your favorite Virtual Reality app?
